چکیده
Hydrogen can be used to enable decarbonisation of challenging applications such as provision heat, and a fuel for heavy transport. The UK has set out strategy developing new low carbon hydrogen sector by 2030. Underground storage will key component any regional or national network because the variability both supply demand across different end-use applications. For pure hydrogen, salt caverns currently remain only commercially proven subsurface technology implemented at scale. A therefore required service network. متن کاملStability Analysis of Salt Cavern Gas Storage Using 2D Thermo-Hydro-Mechanical Finite-Element Software
Ensuring the stability and integrity of underground gas storage salt caverns is a very complicated subject due to the non-linear and time-dependent behavior of rock salts under complicated thermal and mechanical loading conditions. For this reason, pressure and temperature fluctuations in the caverns and their surrounding strata must be integrated into the analysis and the numerical tools that ...
متن کاملCarbon Dioxide Sequestration Potential in Salt Solution Caverns in Alberta, Canada
Anthropogenic effects on climate can be mitigated through various measures, among them being CO2 sequestration in geological media. Geological sinks for CO2 do not need any major new technological development; the technology exists and has been applied for other uses. The challenge is rather to identify the most appropriate methods and sites for long-term sequestration. There are several potent...

This paper proposes a methodology to estimate the maximum revenue that can be generated by a company that operates a high-capacity storage device to buy or sell electricity on the day-ahead electricity market. The methodology exploits the Dynamic Programming (DP) principle and is specified for hydrogen-based storage devices that use electrolysis to produce hydrogen and fuel cells to generate el...
